Signs worth assessing
Loose or damaged parts, persistent draughts, discolouration, moisture around the reveal and operation that is no longer smooth all justify finding the cause. A damp mark does not prove the window itself has failed; the roof or interior connection may also be involved.
- visible wear or damage
- draughts or comfort issues
- leakage or moisture signs
- problems opening, closing or ventilating
Insulation or finishing can be a useful review point
When roof slopes are open for insulation, the details around a roof window are easier to reach. It is then possible to consider whether the existing window suits the future insulation and visible finish.
Agreeing the order in advance can avoid reopening a new finish later. That does not make replacement mandatory, but it makes the decision relevant before closing the surfaces.
Use, daylight and finishing may be the reason
A new attic use can create different expectations for operation, ventilation, daylight or interior finish. These preferences can be reviewed alongside the technical condition.
Noordvaro works on and with roof windows including VELUX and Purilan. This is not a claim of manufacturer certification or partnership; product choice and suitability are discussed per assignment.
There is no universal replacement age
Orientation, maintenance, materials, installation and exposure vary between homes. Noordvaro therefore does not use an unverified number of years as a fixed replacement threshold.
A targeted check of the window, flashing, visible connections and interior finish provides better information than the installation year alone.
